As far as the first objective is concerned our Constitution laid down that free and compulsory education be provided for all children between the ages of six and fourteen within ten years of the coming into force of the Constitution , i.e . by 1960 . जहां तक प्रथम उद्देशऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-य का संबंध है , हमारे संविधान में यह दिया गया है कि संविधान लागू होने से 10 वर्षों के अंदर अर्थात 1960 तक , 6 से 14 वर्ष तक के सभी बचऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-चों को अनिवार्य रूप से निःशुलऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-क शिक्षा दी जानी चाहिए

Some of the important Directives relate to the provision of free and compulsory education for all children up to the age of 14 -LRB- article 45 -RRB- ; promotion of educational and economic interests of scheduled castes , scheduled tribes and other weaker sections -LRB- article 46 -RRB- ; duty of the State to raise the level of nutrition and the standard of living and to improve public health -LRB- article 47 -RRB- ; organization of agriculture and animal husbandry and prohibition of cow slaughter -LRB- article 48 -RRB- ; organisation of village Panchayats -LRB- article 40 -RRB- ; separation of judiciary from the executive -LRB- article 50 -RRB- ; promulgation of a uniform civil code for the whole country -LRB- article 44 -RRB- ; protection of national monuments -LRB- article 49 -RRB- ; and the promotion of international peace and security , just and honourable relations between nations , respect for international law and treaty obligations and settlement of international disputes by arbitration -LRB- article 51 -RRB- . उनमें उपबंध है कि बच्चों को चौदह वर्ष की आयु पूरी करने तक नि : शुल्क तथा अनिवार्य शिक्षा मिले ( अनुच्छेद 45 ) ; अनुसूचित जातियों , अनुसूचित जनजातियों और अन्य दुर्बल वर्गों के शिक्षा और अर्थ संबंधी हितों की अभिवृद्धि हो ( अनुच्छेद 46 ) ; पोषाहार-स्तर और जीवन-स्तर को ऊंचा करना तथा लोक स्वास्थ्य का सुधार करना राज्य का कर्तव्य है ( अनुच्छेद 47 ) ; कृषि और पशुपालन का संगठन हो तथा गो-वध का प्रतिषेध हो ( अनुच्छेद 48 ) ; ग्राम पंचायतों का संगठन हो ( अनुच्छेद 40 ) ; कार्यपालिका से न्यायपालिका का पृथक्करण हो ( अनुच्छेद 50 ) ; समूचे देश के लिए समान सिविल संहिता1 हो ( अनुच्छेद 44 ) ; राष्ट्रीय स्मारकों का संरक्षण हो ( अनुच्छेद 49 ) ; और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शांति तथा सुरक्षा पनपे , राष्ट्रों के बीच न्यायसंगत और सम्मानपूर्ण संबंध पनपें ; अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विधि और संधि-बाध्यताओं के प्रति आदर की अभिवृद्धि हो और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विवादों को मध्यस्थता के द्वारा निपटाया जाए ( अनुच्छेद 51 ) .
